What do YOU think we should tackle as a Project Citizen portfolio this year?

List your ideas below.

Ideas from Mrs. Kropp:
  1. Green Team: We have a lot of waste at our school. Recycling, composting...everyone can and should do more. 2
  2. Bullying: We have bullies at our school. We don't have a comprehensive policy on bullies. 15
  3. Cafeteria Time: The cafeteria is loud and has a lot disrespectful behavior. Kids wait for others to be quiet and time is lost from recess.
  4. Cross Walk: Our cross walk signs are being stolen. The signs slow cars down and make students/teachers more visible.
  5. Energy Waste: We have a lot of energy wasted at our school. We don't have a comprehensive policy on energy waste, and we could possibly earn money back from the district the more energy we save. 18

Ideas from Mr. Bentley:
  1. DonorsChoose.org: We have had classroom supply budgets cut, but we still need things. Why not have the EGUSD adopt a policy that helps teachers to post project requests on DonorsChoose.org and add a link to the EGUSD homepage. 8

Ideas from Students:
  1. Elk Grove has no special "thing" to set it apart.
  2. Lowering the voting age to the driving age. (Perhaps after March off-track time.)
  3. Raising the smoking age to the drinking age. (Perhaps after March off-track time.)
  4. Backpacks are too heavy. 20
  5. Not enough programs (i.e. extracurricular sports, art, etc.) 10
  6. Not enough animal shelterrs.
  7. Our school's water fountains don't taste good and are dirty are are sometimes broken. 13

We have chosen for Portfolio 1:
Energy Waste: We have a lot of energy wasted at our school. We don't have a comprehensive policy on energy waste, and we could possibly earn money back from the district the more energy we save. 18
